Farm Day

What a difference a new rug can make!

Added a dry erase board to our book center, along with some sight word cards to copy.

Our ear buds that we use for our Leap pad collection always get tangled. This hook system is cheap and keeps them separated.

We've never had a rug under here since I came into the room. Hope to get a new one someday but large preschool rugs are just so expensive!

Rugs are supposed to help with noise.

Farm Day!!!

Thanks to Mr. Darrel and his wife for bringing a tractor and goat to see us.

Lots of climbing fun.

Not sure what to make of the goat....

The kids really enjoy seeing animals.

Mrs. Brenda is our wonderful cook (and impromptu singer).

Yee haw!

My class (plus a furry addition--she's not officially enrolled  ;)  )

Meet Tattle Ear

My director bought our class this tattle ear at our conference. My kids know the difference in a tattle and a report and I encourage them many times during the day to "talk to the ear".  :)

On another note: more furniture re-arranging.

I moved our music and computer center over to the wall and put a small table in front of it to use.

Our portable center....can be changed to match our themes. This is filled with beauty salon supplies.

I like the reading area better this way. Science is on the back side.

View of my room now. I think it feels more spacious.

Our V-Smile has been such a hit. We have two remotes and 16 kids...it takes us about 3 days to get everyone a 15-minute turn. I have two cups taped to the side of the tv. Each child has a popsicle stick with his or her name on it. One of the cups is labeled "Waiting to play" and the other says "Already played". I move the sticks according to who's had a turn.

It makes more sense to have the science center close to the sensory table and the huge human body poster.

Babies and baby supplies have taken up residence on a shelf in the house center.

Our "sit-upons" for circle time. I have bought a laundry basket to put them in as they soon became a mess all over the floor. Here is our circle time rhyme:
"When I go to circle time
I have a place that's mine all mine,
where I sit, and listen, and learn a lot.
It's called my little carpet spot."

Easter fun

I wanted to make our sensory table go along with our Easter activities so I put in Easter grass and an  assortment of eggs, opened. I also tossed in a handful of Easter erasers. The children could sort and put the egg halves back together for math and fine motor skills. They could also hide an eraser inside and let a friend search out the hidden egg treasure. Counting the eggs was also fun. I tried to encourage sorting the eggs by type (sports, solids, etc.) but it didn't seem to interest my group.

Since we are a privately owned, Christian-directed daycare, we are allowed to teach Bible to our students. About once a week we'll do a simple, non-denominational Bible story. Our story was the Biblical account of Easter. After we read it, we made a batch of Resurrection Rolls.

To make a roll, you put a marshmallow (Jesus) into the center of the tomb (opened crescent roll), and sprinkle cinnamon onto the marshmallow to represent the spices that were used in Biblical burials. Roll up the crescent roll dough around the marshmallow and bake on a cookie sheet at 350 for ten minutes or so.

When the rolls are cool, bite in for a surprise....the tomb is empty! Jesus has risen!

We made tissue paper eggs. No glue required; just spritz the construction paper egg patterns with a water bottle and push the tissue paper squares onto the egg. Then spritz with water as needed until tissue is adhered.

We went on a playground egg hunt. What fun!

After our egg hunt, we had a lunch time party with all sorts of yummy goodies.
